Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Washington

Pedestrian fatalities continue to rise across Washington, particularly in urban areas like Lynnwood. Pedestrians traveling near or across high-volume roadways face increased risk due to limited walking space, reduced visibility, and fast-moving vehicles.

Several conditions often contribute to fatal pedestrian crashes:

  • Low visibility during early-morning or nighttime hours.
  • High traffic speeds that reduce driver reaction time.
  • Lack of marked crosswalks or safe walking areas.
  • Driver inattention in areas with both vehicles and pedestrians.
